Nunwicks New Beginnings "1990's"
1990
The new decade began with the opening of the new pavilion which was a far cry from the old one. This one had running water, toilets and showers!! It also had two changing rooms and a communal area where tea is taken. The original estimate had been £12,500, but as with all building projects costs escalated to over £30,000. The extra was funded by generous interest free loans from prominant club members who were repayed promptly. The opening was marked by a game between and EVCL select team and a Graham Monkhouse all stars team, which included Graham himself formerely of Edenhall and Surrey, Alan Ramage who played league football with Middlesborough and first class cricket for Yorkshire.
Chris Malpas took the most wickets in Division 2 of the EVCL with a very respectable 68 wickets.
1991

Les Carrick receives a momento to mark his retirement from office as treasurer from the club President Martin Thompson and Chairman Bob Ellwood. This brought to a close a 38 year association from officiating for the club. Oliver Thompson the grandson of founder R Heywood Thompson is the latest life member of the club.
On the field Tony Moor is once again the top keeper in Division 2 of the EVCL with 28 victims.
1994

Nunwick lost one of its many characters when Keith Bell passed away at a young age. Crickets was one of Keith’s great passions in life as his parents delivered him to the ground for an afternoons sport. His main aim was not to keep the scoreboard ticking over but to ensure the home players enjoyed his mothers freshly baked cakes or fruit pasties. Considering Frances legendary baking ability it was always assured that the cake miraculously appeared on the table after the opposition had made their buffet selection.
1995
Once again Tony Moor proves his mastery with the gloves as he takes the Divsion 3 award with 15 victims.
1996
Nunwick finally become the bride after being the bridesmaid so often in the past by securing the Division 3 championship with 73 points, 21 clear of nearest rivals Great Corby. This is partly due to bowler Andy Collin who tops the most wickets table with 48.
1998
What was a fairly insignificant event at the time, but one which was the seed of future success in that Andy Collin became the first qualified coach at Nunwick. A poor season on the field saw the team relegated from Division 2 to Division 3 of the EVCL.
1999
The decade closes with the qualification of a second coach in Ian Brown in the early part of the year. A more momentus event occurs later as the club starts a junior section and junior coaching commences on a Tuesday evening with only a handful of children. The venture is welcomed by the Thompson family especially Oliver whos donates all the junior equipment purchased in that year. This follows the families very generous funding of the pavillion project. The first junior fixtures are against local rivals Staffield who have run a junior section for a number of years.
Behind the stumps is David Atkinson who more than adequately filled the void left by Tony to the extent that he replaces him as the top keeper in division 3 with 20 unsuspecting victims.
