Nunwick's Swinging Sixties

1960

The new decade brings about a new beginning for cricket in the Eden Valley with the formation of the “Eden Valley Cricket League”. Nunwick was one of the founder members along with Threlkeld, Keswick II, Garlands, Patterdale, Lowther, Stainton, Alston and Gamblesby. Nunwick have enjoyed unbroken membership of the EVCL ever since. In addition to the newly formed league fixtures Nunwick also played a number of friendlies that season which included Millhouse, Edenhall, Crusaders, Staffield and the Post Office.

1961

The league fixtures that season included Lowther, Patterdale, Penrith III, Staffield, Millhouse, Gamblesby, and Stainton. Friendlies were also played against local rivals Staffield, Garlands, Edenhall and the BBC.

1962

During the 1962 season a Nunwick player was the first from the club to achieve personal success as Arthur Rose is the 2nd Divsion highest wicket taker with 46 wickets.

1963

As in the case of the London omnibus once one comes along another follows shortly as was the case as Gordon Bennison returns the highest individual batting score in Division 2 with a score of 82.
